THE HENRIETTE EDMONDS SENIOR EXCELLENCE AWARD
for D.I.V.A. Inc Members
History
This award was established by the Founding members of D. I. V. A., Incorporated to honor beloved sister, mentor, professor, teacher and friend, Professor Henriette Edmonds, lovingly called, “Miss Henri!”
Professor Edmonds had been affiliated with Howard University’s Department of Theatre for more than 30 years and was also a former Chair of the department. She received countless awards from Howard University, PG County Public Schools, Delta Sigma Theta and numerous theater organizations. She was an author, actress, director, choreographer and employed many students in her touring show, “We Wear the Mask” which also appeared on WHMM-TV.
Professor Edmonds will always be fondly remembered as the “Drama Mama” because of her support and care of her beloved students.
Objective
To highlight an outstanding Senior at the end of the school year by presenting them with a $1000 award to be used towards their artistic journey.
Award Requirements
- Highest GPA
- Leadership in the Department of Theatre Arts
- Community Engagement
- Recipients must be a member of D. I. V. A., Incorporated
Application Details
The award recipient will be announced at the Owen Dodson “Weenie” Awards Ceremony in May.
